The Social, Bristol – Review

It seems most of the time I eat all my flouncy meals on the weekend when I have more time to play than in the weekday evenings when I want to be curled up on the sofa not moving. But that has all changed thanks to The Social on Gloucester Road, Bristol. Two words for you – Wine Wednesday. That’s right. Wine Wednesday. 25% of wine on Wednesday’s it’s like they are talking my language.

But there’s so much more to The Social. Great food. Seriously great food. Mouthwatering food. I went for the treacle & cider ham hock with smoked garlic potatoes, pea purée, a poached duck egg & baked apple tart. I mean wow right. Look at that sexy duck egg just oozy everywhere. Tender smoky ham on a mountain of garlicky mash with the rich egg yolk is the stuff of dreams. The baked apple tart wasn’t necessarily needed but still a nice addition.

The Social Chocolate Cake served with Double Cream was just shouting to me and the rich moist chocolate, with raspberry coulis to cut through the richness. Divine. And the perfect way to end the ending with good friends.  Bring on the next Wine Wednesday.
